Wildwood offers seminars each year to provide opportunities for the whole church to be trained in an essential area of discipleship. In addition to providing solid training, seminars also offer a good introduction to our Christian Formation Pathway.
Our culture has transformed rapidly in the past 40 years. We’ve moved from an agreed upon understanding of marriage to a world where the very concept of marriage is disputed and exists in many different forms. Not only that, but the concept of gender has grown from a stable, two-option reality to a fluid, multi-valent, “pick one” world. In addition, many of these new perspectives have been adopted by some churches. This confusion has led to division. In such a complex world, the church needs clarity. What does the Bible actually say about this?
In this two-part seminar, we will consider how God’s Good Design for marriage and gender is described in the Bible. We will address contemporary arguments from culture and from within the church, and we will discuss how to live this out by speaking the truth in love. If this is an issue you’ve struggled with yourself, or if you have a family member or friend that has these desires, this seminar is for you.
The conflict in Israel has occasioned many people talking about the end times… again. It’s an important topic: as we see in the Olivet Discourse (Matthew 23-25), Jesus wants us to think about the end times. In fact, Jesus is continuing a prophetic tradition that is all over scripture. More than one in four verses in the Bible are looking toward the future. This seminar will help you develop your understanding of the end times and Israel’s role in it. Through teaching, panel discussions, and Q&A, we will consider the different ways Christians understand the end times.
God made you and the family he has uniquely put you with for a purpose. There is a reason for your existence, a response for you to make during your brief stay on the earth. A Family Plan is something big. It is the picture you have of your family – what you believe God wants your family to be and achieve.
This seminar is all about writing your unique Family Plan. Writing your Family Plan will force you to do some careful reflection about who your family is, how He has made your family, and why God placed your family together at this time in human history. When you complete it, you will have a clearer vision of your overall reason for living together as a family and in a Covenantal relationship with each the Lord and each other.
