As we continue our focus on the theme “On Mission” through the book of Acts we discover that the early disciples prayed regularly and fervently. They were gathered in prayer before the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:14). They prayed as a normal part of their community life (Acts 2:42). They prayed when faced with opposition (Acts 4:23-31). They did not pray for an easy life of tranquility but for more boldness in the face of resistance.
The early church was marked by prayer… and we must be too. Both personally and corporately. Jesus desired that His house be known “as a house of prayer” (Matthew 21:13). For the week of November 2-8, we will do our best to make Wildwood Church a house of prayer. We are being called by our study in Acts and encouraged by Pastor Bob to come together for a week of dedicated prayer. We are reminded that “more things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of” (Tennyson). So, faith family, let’s come together and pray… pray with humility and boldness that God would do a mighty work in our midst and further propel us on mission… together!
