What We Know and What We Do

Text: James 5:1-12

In this final chapter of James we encounter a strong indictment against the rich and two exhortations to Christ followers. It is clear that James is not condemning wealth but rather the abuse of power that wealth brings. His warning helps us understand how money distorts our view of reality. He exhorts Christians to be patient in the face of injustice, looking to the coming of Christ to fulfill all unmet longings for justice. And finally James exhorts believers to lead a life of integrity and honest. Our entire reputation is based on the bond of our word. It is the integrity of Jesus’ own word that welcomes us into His presence through the Lord’s Supper.
