In our “Journey of Jesus”, we are exploring specific texts that help us define how Jesus lived, what he valued and how he acted and reacted to both people and problems. As the apostle John said in 1 John 2:6, “anyone who says he abides in him ought to walk the same way that he walked”. This Sunday we explore how Jesus related to the “tax collectors and sinners” he encountered in everyday life. Jesus was unthreatened by people who were different. He saw beyond the surface problem to the real problem of spiritual alienation. He was able to see what people would become when transformed by grace. Jesus’ response to “unclean” people is a huge challenge to each of us today!
