Paul stresses the absolute impartiality of God in bringing all people to judgment. For the Jew this involves being a doer of the law (think ten commandments as a summary). A true doer of the law would recognize his inability to keep the law and seek forgiveness. Those who boast in their privileges but do not live out their faith are hypocrites. Paul strongly condemns Jewish hypocrisy and says that God’s name is not blessed, but blasphemed because of their hypocrisy. Today we will recognize how the same dynamics apply to any professing Christian and to the church as a whole.
