Pray for Nashville

Sometimes it feels impossible to even know how to pray in light of unspeakable tragedy, like what took place at our sister church and school, Covenant PCA in Nashville.

Our hearts ache for the lives lost and we also can feel helpless, because there seems to be little else we can do, but that doesn’t mean that prayer is a last resort. Prayer is not inaction. Faith family, let's remember that prayer is action! And while it does not exhaust our concern or fulfill our obligations to our friends who are suffering greatly, it rightly should be the starting point for our efforts.

Remember God's words to us in Psalm 50:15, “Call on me in the day of trouble” and also in Philippians 4:6, “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

  • Pray your confusion or even frustration to God (Jeremiah 8:22)
  • Pray for God's mercy to be present (Matthew 5:4)
  • Pray for freedom from fear (Psalm 23:4)
  • Pray for God's peace and comfort (Romans 15:13)
  • Pray for healing (Luke 9:11)
  • Pray for hope (John 16:22)
  • Pray for the Gospel to bring about change (2 Corinthians 5:17)
