Digital Prayer Room

Welcome to our digital Holy Week Prayer Room. It is our hope that, despite being a different format, our annual prayer focus will be meaningful for you and your family and also a powerful force for advancing the Kingdom.

Day 1 (Palm Sunday)
Day 2
Day 3
Day 4
Day 5 (Maundy Thursday)
Day 6 (Good Friday)
Day 7

Obviously, first and foremost on most of our minds is the COVID-19 virus and the impact it is having on our family, friends, church, community and even the world. We would be remiss to not have this as a focus of prayer this Passion Week.  And so, we will pray to our God who not only comprehends the coronavirus, but He has purposes for it. God does nothing, and permits nothing, without His good and wise purposes. Nothing just happens. Ephesians 1:11 reminds us that everything flows from the eternal counsels of God.

Passion Week reminds us of that same truth. Everything – including Jesus’ journey to the cross – was all in response to God’s sovereign, good plan.  Celebrating Passion Week is not an obligation, but rather an opportunity. It is a chance to walk with the Church, throughout time and throughout the world, as she walks with her Bridegroom through the most important week in the history of the world. It is a chance to focus our minds on, and seek to intensify our affections for, the most important and timeless of realities.

At the center of Passion Week stands one person of paramount importance… Jesus. Everything centers on Him and revolves around the events we will celebrate and remember – the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.

When Jesus hung on the cross, He made seven statements that Scripture records for us. This prayer guide will lead you through those statements. This guide is laid out in a daily format; however, if you’d like to spend a concentrated time in prayer, it would work that way as well.
If you’d like a specific biblical text to serve as a prayer challenge for this week, know that we are asking God to make the prayer of Ephesians 3:16-19 true of this faith family here at Wildwood this Passion Week:

"that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith — that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

May God make this to be for you a week of being renewed in the love of Christ, which we see so clearly from the Hosannas of Palm Sunday, to Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice of Good Friday and then His triumphant resurrection of Easter Sunday. So, as we pray together, let’s be reminded that “more things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of” (Tennyson). Let’s come boldly as we enter His presence.  Let’s come expectantly as we seek His face.  Let’s vow to leave changed!
